One minute he was alright and a few moments subsequent I witnessed him not being competent to use his right leg and foot. It felt slightly cooler than the other leg and foot and it appeared paralyzed. He appeared to be hiding within the cage facing the corner. He be able to harmonize and drink water but inept to balance and munch through his seed. Later contained by the day he go to the bottom of the cage and huddled surrounded by the corner holding onto the cage line with his beak. He passed away closing night at 10pm after we witnessed him slumping over, spreading his wing and then closing his eyes. Then he be gone. He was otherwise other healthy, choral and happy. Don't know how hoary he/she was, we found him on our front porch 4 years ago. Do you chew over he suddenly had a stroke and died? Anyone out in that have experiences close to this with a cockateil? We are distressed but comforted it was high-speed compared to what it could have be. Would like to know what happen to him. Thank you!
Answers: AWE, I'm so sorry to hear you lost your baby. Strokes and heart attacks are not extraordinary in birds. It does indeed nouns like a stroke from your description of losing the use of one side of his body.
If you want to be surely sure of the cause of his endorsement, take him to an avian vet and hold a necropsy (bird autopsy) done. If it wasn't a stroke, it will be good to know what it be to prevent it from occurring with any adjectives birds you might have. i.e. toxins
Again, I'm so sorry for your loss... a big hug to both of you.
I'm sorry for your lost, I know how rock-hard it is to lose a pet. You might want to try calling an avian vet. They might be able to answer your interview over the phone.
