Older cat hates new kitten?

I just adopted a new 9 week old male kitten from the shelter. He was the only one that I was planning on having because I was moving into a new apartment. Well my grandmother had 2 cats and my grandma died so my aunt took the older cat and then the younger one had no where to go so I said that I would take her ( she is 2). So she is used to being with another cat that is all that she has ever known. Now we are all in my new apartment and she hates my new kitten she hisses and growls at him. He doesn't know to be scared though so it is kinda funny because he just wants to play with her. I am afraid that she will attack... I introduced them slowly and when the older one got used to my kitten being near her in the carrier I began to let him out... this just isn't working out. The older cat has always been very skittish and high strung so I am wondering if the loss of her caretaker(my grandma) the loss of her old friend and moving to a new place with a new kitten is just to much for her.

Answers:
give them time they are just showing who is boss and that its thier house and you are THEIR person! give it time and they will soon be cleaning each other and sleeping together.,...but dont force them on each other! and make sure they all have their own food or they will get annoyed/offended at each other
good luck
Umm so whats the question?
what is ur question
different place and a different cat. 2 is still young and she should eventually get used to the kitten
Most older cats are like that towards kittens. But they eventually warm up to each other. That's the way it's always worked with my cats.
true it can be overwhelming to move to a completely new environment but he just needs time to adjust
Nothing more than territorial issues.

Time will take its course.
Grandma's kitty is upset - she has lost her home, her cat friend & her "mom". Imagine her pain. Thank you for taking her, but she hasn't adjusted to you yet & she is upset by the kitten. Put them in separate rooms & give the 2 year old time to adjust to her new home. After a few days or a week, begin to show her the kitten & let her sniff it, but separate if she becomes upset. Stroke her & be kind & they will eventually bond.
I have to very same problem. I have a ten year old cat and a one year old. The ten year old cat hisses at the younger cat all the time. The younger cat loves to play and wants to play with the older cat----but he attacks the younger cat and sometimes I have to make him stop. I don't think things will get any better because I have had the kitten for about 5 months now.
I am still hopeful though. Good luck to you.
Just give it some time! Yes your grandma's cat will be freaked out for a while just cause she is in a new enviroment and not use to it yet! I would also give it some time on the two getting along, it will happen!
i THINK IT IS TO MUCH A PERSON TO HANDLE !!!mAYBE SHE SHOULD HIRE A PROFESSIONAL TO HELP!!!!!!
