Why does my little cat try to hump my bigger cat?

i addded a new extra to my family a couple of months ago. a kitten almost 3 months old 'found' me, and i took him home. i have him neutered and vaccinate immediately. ably, i have 2 other cats who are 3 years ancient. the new kitten will not play much the the feminine cat because she gets hissy next to him. but he and fat cat enjoy hit it off wonderfully. they play economically together, but for some reason, when tubby cat is eating or taking a rest, the kitten will grab the posterior of his neck and try to mount him. hefty cat doesnt seem to mind too much, but he will attain irritated and walk away at times. he have never been aggressive beside the kitten. i have see dogs do this often to struggle for dominance, but i have never see cats do it. is it the same item going on here?
