If your cat has kittens..?

is it ok to put the moms food and water near her while shes staying under my bed with her babies? (she just had the kittens today)
Answers:
Yes, if she is too reluctant to leave the babies to go eat and drink. But make sure you use a very small water bowl and keep the water very shallow, in case the kittens crawl near it. You don't want one accidently crawling in and drowning in the water bowl. So make it small and shallow enough to tip over easily and spill out if a kitten tries to climb over the bowl. You may have to clean up the mess, and you may have to refill it a couple of times a day, but it is better than putting the kittens at risk. Or put it on something raised up where mom can still see the babies and be near them, but they can't get near the bowls.
yes, actually it should be almost the best thing to do with her because she has to nurse for a while and she needs energy which she gets from the food and needs water so she doesnt dehydrate herself.
Yeah you could do that. But you should let the kittens nurse on their mother themselves. Because that's how they bond. And don't touch them too much because the mother will reject them because it will have human scent on them.
Most definately YES she wont want to leave her babies especially after just delivering them, I would be very surprised if she even wants to eat she will most probably just want to sleep and wash them. When she has her energy back she will not want to go very far away so putting her food and water near is a great idea, i did just that with my cat when she had her little ones and it was the best idea. Also when the little one start to wander if mums food is near and the are close to being weaned onto solids what better way than them seeing their mum eating solid food and drinking water they will just follow her example, less work for you and more natural. Less stress for mum! Make sure you keep her litter tray nearby aswell bec we found our mum just wouldn't go to the toilet bec she didn't want to leave the little ones, also again watching mum will teach the little ones the litter tray.
