Do you agree beside debarking your dog?
Answers: No, it would not be something that I would do..but it is far from cruel or inhumane.
The dog doesn't know it is debarked. It still "barks" and the behavior is still there.
I enjoy seen ancestors that had no choice product that decision. If it is that or wear a muzzle every second the dog is outside, I would choose the surgery.

Personally, I don't agree with it. Its a defense machinery for most dogs and in most cases I'm glad my dog bark when she does (ie. someone attempting to break in my apartment while I be there and didn't hear them until my dog bark uncontrollably at the door.) Its resembling declawing a cat, they have the skill to claw like dogs enjoy the ability to yelp for a reason. Not trying to down you for what have happened to your own pet, of late my personal opinion.

Hi i have friends who have this done to their shelties and it did not seem to bother them,In certainty they did not seem to discern the difference.They were indoor dogs and they have to many complaints from neighbors. I suppose it is better than have to get rid of your pets. Most vet will not do this procedure.

Debarking a dog should not be done.
First of adjectives, the vocal chords can grow hindmost, therefore, the dog is put through through surgery and the related problems and pain beside the surgery, and it may be all for nought.
The dog needs a voice for several reasons, not the tiniest is to sound warning to their people and others.
Barking is a behavior that can be reversed in need the need for surgery but through training and moderation on the part of the owner.
If someone really requests a dog that doesn't bark and doesn't want to steal the time to train the dog properly, then a Basenji is a moral option. These are great mid-sized dogs, who readily do not bark.
i wouldn't do that because i depend on my dog for home protection.
our house be broken into from the backyard a couple of times. after we got our pitbull, we own not had a break surrounded by. i think folks wouldn't take him as seriously if he be debarked. also, i wouldn't want someone to not hear him and think near is no dog, then get attacked and sues us.
also, my dog doesn't bark unless relatives aggrivate him or if someone comes on our property.
Since barking is a behavior that can be trained out of a dog, I presume that debarking a dog is HORRIBLE!

I agree, that's horrible! In my view, if people can't train their dogs not to yelp or just blanch up a bit and deal next to it, they should find a home that will take the dog As-is. To me it's purely as bad as declawing cats. I deem it's cruel to take away what quality gave them for no other apology than people individual lazy and looking for an graceful fix. They're made that way for a plea! Seriously, it's a DOG, they bark! People shouldn't attain one if they can't handle that.

Since you have shelties enjoy home, do your dogs talk like mad? Shelties love to talk. Also, debarking is not "taking the voice box out". The dog doesn't even know they are debark. Imagine if you enjoy to let your dogs out contained by the morning at 5am on a weekend, you don't want your dog to bark to every little noice, right? If you dance to shows, you will see quite a bit of dogs are debark. Why? Because convinced breeds love to talk and you own a mean neighbor, you don't want police come to your house for your bark dogs.

Although I prefer not to, in some situations I ponder it is the best thing. I would to some extent see a dog debarked than lose it's home, and I would rather see a dog debarked than be constantly yell at or punished for barking.
Some dogs simply cannot be stopped from bark. The dogs I've seen that are debarked do not give the impression of being to notice that their voice is not as loud. Now they can yelp to their heart's content without anyone getting annoyed at them.

I think it is a horrible entity to do to a dog. To me it is the same as someone taking out a humans voice box.
No I do not agree beside debarking,but that is my inference.I have rescued animals for over 15 years and I hold dogs now that could not be rehomed after rescuing them.Physical,mental problems etc.And I hold 1 dog that barks I meditate just to yap.He has be diagnosed basically as mental retardation.Hes my lil man.But he will yap at the drop of a pin..Even though at times I think Im gonna jump mad and lose my mind, I other think powerfully,he is talking to me,or one of the other dogs or yell at one of the cats.LOL he is definatly a hand ful.But If I didnt hear him yap,I promise u I would feel lonely and worried.I own had him checked out by 3 dif vet before I be told he was not mentally right.He also suffers near a skin allergy(gets fed Nature's Recipe Healthy Skin).But vet figured that he be abused badly(before being rescued) or be born with the mental sector.Either way,I luv him.And even though I do not agree near it, I can not push My beliefs on others owners.I do feel sorry for ur lil doggie though.I bet he think he is as loud as Crap and dont relize it.I have simply met one woman with a debarked dog.And she have him(pedro) for 9 or 10 years before., she have to move. They told her either to carry rid of him or find away to break the bark.So she did debark him.But perdo lived to almost 16 and he after a few weeks be fine,His lil welps to him was giant bark.She loved pedro and I can see why she had it done.Everyone told her to move somewhere else.She be elderly on a fixed income and That apartment was her lone hope away from homeless.So in some instances for dependable ppl I guess its their only choice.And hun U can not comfort what happened to That dog earlier u got her.I am proud of u for giving her a home and That is adjectives that matters.Dont permit some of the answers on here upset u,I get alot of disagreeing ppl too.But yahoo ppl are allowed to opinion.Thats what makes yahoo so great, we adjectives have dif opinion and visions on natural life.
