Why does my dog like to "dig" into the couch and how can i stop it?

Answers:
hit it one the nose every time you catch it doing it. It isn't mean and doesn't hurt hthem, just lets them know they are doing wrong.
DOGS DIG INTO THE COUCH TO MAKE THEMSELVES MORE COMFORTABLE OR A WAY TO MARK THEIR TERRITORY. TO STOP THIS, YOU HAVE TO SHOW HIM THAT ITS BAD OR NOT ALLOW HIM ON THE COUCH.
They dig to make a bed. They usually make a circle and then lay where they have dug.Put a Big thick blanket. That should save your furniture and make your pet happy, and no damage to your couch. It works great for us.Good luck.
just making its nest-- goes back to the days before they were domesticated and they would lay on pine needles or leaves etc. they would dig in them first and then walk in circles to settle them before they lay down. i really don't know if you can stop it or not as i have never tried. to me it is instinct, so why mess with mother nature?
well you know them baby fences that block ur babies from climbing up the stairs? well get one of those and block off any entrance to your living room or the couch and make sure its pretty tall so he/she can't jump over...it depends...
here's what i meen:

but don't make a lil box out of it so he she can't get out. They need their freedom.Just use them to block off the entrance to a bedroom or the living room or just somewhere where u don't want the dog to go <3
We have a foster dog that when she first got here, dug at the couch. All our dogs are allowed on furniture, they are considered equal. Anyway, it might be just wanting to dig, or maybe there is some thing down inbetween the coushins. Check, if there is a toy or crumbs down there, that's what he's after. When you catch him, tell him "no!' sternly, and put him on the floor. That should teach him that when he digs, he gets taken away. If that doesn't work, get a spray bottle (one like hair dressers uses, that hasn't had chemicals in it) and fill it with water, and when he digs, tell him "no!" and spray him. That'll make him stop. When he stops, praise him and love on him. Good luck!
She is making a nest.. Making the couch more comfortable.. Get her a crate and fill it with fluffy blankets and she'll have her own space to fluff and dig..
Dont allow it on your furniture. TRAIN it. Say NO when it does something you dont want it to do. Easy!
it might smell something. try bitter apple spray, and stop it when it is digging. unless ths is just before the dog lays down, they get comfortable that way
