Dog problems?

I have a miniature poodle and he is 8 years weak. When he gets something he shouldnt enjoy, like trash or a sock or something, he a moment ago will not let run of it. And when he does he rolls over expecting to be pet for letting go of it. i know that the merely reason he take things he knows he shouldnt enjoy is because he wants attention. How do i acquire the object out of his mouth easier and should i pet him? or will it notify him that its good to carry things he shouldnt have? Also, my dog nip at me sometimes when i get up promptly or do something quickly and he does it when he have food in his mouth, such as a chicken bone that he get from the garbage. It's almost impossible to get hold of it out with out mortal bitten. How can i solve these problems? how can i become dominant over him?
