In your position I would be far more worried about A) introducing illnesses to your cistern from wild-caught fish & B) tank size, your container needs to be at most minuscule 40 gallons & heavily filtered or you will hold uncontrollable poor dampen conditions very soon.
I suggest you return the Guppies to their intuitive home as soon as possible-it's the kindest thing to do for everyone involved including yourself.
