How can i humanely euthanize my goldfish?

my oranda is floating at the top of the tank, swirling from the force of the filter. gills are totally yawning open, and fins not moving at adjectives. she was battle fin rot, and it looks like she is going on for to die.

can i freeze her in the refridgerator? i dont enjoy clove oil or vodka, so any other path to euthanize her would be appreciated. thanks.

Answers:    Your fish would suffocate beforehand it froze. I'm sorry to have to pass you the gory details, but the fastest and most modernized method I ever found for destroying a fish was to place them surrounded by a plastic bag, swing it, and hit the rucksack on a countertop as hard as I could. Basically, it fractures the skull, separates the spinal cord, and kill the fish instantly. You can put a paper pod over the plastic bag so you can't see it.

I know this sounds awful, but I manage a pet store for 8 years and this was more humane than letting a fish suffer a slow destruction. I would not recommend flushing it or trying to put vodka in water- the fish will surface the chlorine/alcohol in its gills and that burns. The toilet will also bludgeon it to departure.

This is my experience. I hope I haven't upset you too much...

EDIT: Well, the fish spared you the decision. Thank her when you bury her. I enjoy buried fish in my flowerbeds. They are angelic for the soil and then I can reflect about them when I see the flowers blooming. Sorry for your loss...
you can put them within a cup of vodka and that stuns them and they die
