Can a Mickey Mouse Fish and Platy fish survive over the weekend short food?

I am teacher who only just purchased a Mickey Mouse and Moon Platy as class pets. I was told at the pet store that they "might" survive the weekend minus food. I purchased a live plant for them to munch on in the meanwhile.

Will they still be swimming around come Monday, or will I necessitate to give the "circle of life" sermon to my little 4-year olds?

Answers:    they will survive over the weekend with out food so don't verbs,you can buy feeder blocks but they are normally used if going away for longer they final 7 days
This fish will be fine over the weekend with out food. Since these are class room pet if you want to avoid have to come in to nurture them over the longer holidays (ie Chirstmas break) you may want to invest in an automatic feeder, which will nurture a set amount of food at set intervals.
