what kind is best ofr guppies if you don't want them sucked up and everything? also, if someone could make a contribution me a few pointers to keeping them happy and fit and everything that would be great... i have tons of plants surrounded by there for them to hide and stuff, and a lava rock that they like ALOT.. but nay suggestions please?

While i would other say HOB filter are best, if you are dealing with smaller tank you can go beside a hydro sponge filter.
get a sponge filter to protect the fry and bequeath them live foods once a week as a treat
