Feed my Betta?

I have to make tracks for 1 week. Is it possible to feed my betta one of those fish feed tablets for tropical fish while I'm away?
( the time released kind)

Answers:    Here is a great example about how everyone have different opinions on things. I be not willing to help yourself to a chance near my 1 Betta going without food for a week, and I could not find anyone to assist take assistance of him, so I bought a feeder block designed for Bettas specifically. It is a lot smaller afterwards the other feeder blocks and designed for an unfiltered Betta tank. Another remedy is, depending on how big the Betta tank is, is to obtain a battery operate feeder.they sell them contained by the pet stores. I use these for my bigger tanks, (they nurture my fish 2 x's per day an amount of food set by me), but they are adjectives too big for a little 2.5 gallon cistern. (If you can find one, great, go achieve it!!) I had no problems at adjectives and I was gone for 9 days.
So, as you can see, opinion vary. Let me reitterate though that the feeder blocks I bought be Betta specific and for unfiltered Betta "bowls". I imagine they are formulated rather differently so that they DO NOT foul up the tank, if that make sense (that's just what I'm guessing). If you can find these, I'd use one. Also, if you can find a battery-operated operated feeder piece that you can make fit (I don't know what size reservoir you have), that would fix your problem right there.
I hope this help. Good luck!! ;o)

For the record: I do believe that the fish would probably be ok, but resembling I said, I wasn't willing to pilfer that chance, so I took a karma using the feeder block. I made the right decision for me, because my fish be fine, and it just needed a regular wet change when I get home. Finneus was pretty happy looking and glad to see me!!
I'm not positive on this, but I don't estimate they work unless they're in an aquarium next to a filter.
hmmmm
What you should do is put another beta in the bowl near him. They will play and play for the whole week and will be have so much fun with respectively other that they won't even think around eating. Problem solved!
no, those time release things are unforgivable. the fish rarely chomp through them and they just mess up the river. you're more likely to come posterior to a dead fish using one of those than departing your betta for a week without food.

if you furnish your fish a good verbs out the day you stir and feed him resembling normal, don't overfeed too much, he will be fine for a week minus food. they can go for 5 days well without food.
Your betta will be fine disappearing him for a week w/o food. Feed him 3x a day for a few days (small meals), and he will be fine until you carry back. Then nurture him a small meal as soon as you hike through the door.

Be sure and cover his tank so he can not soar out. Also be sure to do a 100% water transmutation on the day you check out of so he has fresh dampen during your absence.

I move out my betta for a week when on vacation, and own not lost one yet.

Have a locked trip!
you know what i do for my fish when im gone is i cut up some cucumber slices (for a beta one slice is enough for a week) its perchance not there just what the doctor ordered food but it does give them something to bite on whne they get hungry. technically your fish can travel the whole week minus eating but im sure it wouldnt be really comfortable that way so its virtuous to leave them something to tide them over. any soft veggie will do doesnt own to be cucumber i just use cucumber because any fish can munch through it and it wont hurt them at all plus it doesnt mess up the wet, dont use fruit, too much sugar and it WILL make your hose gross, another think you can do is put sinking pellet in in that that are intended for bottom feeders, though the beta likes to chomp through off the top it will rummage for whatever it can on the bottom if it get hungry, the pellets will verbs up after a day and provide food for the beta for the week, again not the best diet for a beta but beter next nothing. well-mannered luck.
I wouldn't waste my money on those feeder blocks. Your fish will be fine minus food for a week or more as long as he is healthy. Just be sure to regulation the water within the tank/bowl before disappearing and feed him his regular amount of food right beforehand you leave.
The feeder blocks will most probable foul up his water and do fin rot or swim bladder disorder due to him overeating. I wouldn't risk it.
