Is my fish lonely?

I have a fancy goldfish. "Goldie" have been near us since April. He seems lonely to me. But he's be in isolation for so long that I am worried that if we obtain him a pal, he won't know what to do next to it.
Do fish have social skills?

Answers:    Hi Isabel, yes, he probably is! From my own experiences I can vote with some authority that although they are not 'schooling' fish as such Goldfish always do better beside buddies & are noticeably more stirring due to constant interaction with one another. Even within large tank multiple fish often group together swirling & tumbling over one another & additionally will normally sleep side by side.

Before going ahead, just a few points to suffer in mind: firstly ensure you enjoy a large satisfactory tank for 2, which is at tiniest 20 gallons but preferably twice that & ensure the newcomer is a similar size & type to the current occupier because fancies cannot compete all right with streamlined types for food. It might also be an hypothesis to alter the scenery or move the décor slightly around when you introduce a friend to minimise any territorial issues.
goldfish arent the most social fish; they can live independently. however, if at all possible i would recommend a playmate, space permitting. they might even trickle in love.
