Thanks a million.
Answers: You are correct that chlorine will evaporate from thump water. If you stand buckets of dampen containing tap sea, the chlorine will evaporate in roughly speaking 24-36 hours. The problem with this method is that several municipalities add chloramines into hose down supplies. You can call your local wet supplier to see if your tap hose contains chloramine. Most likely, it does. Chloramine is a compound of chlorine and ammonia. Chloramine can run weeks to evaporate! This combined compound needs to be effectively neutralize prior to adding to your reservoir. The only sheltered way to do this beforehand Saturday is by using a treatment such as Amquel. In the future, you can stand buckets of wet to age (in a sterile area), but make sure the river has "aged" several weeks up to that time using it. Because the water conditioners are incredibly inexpensive, I highly recommend using them.
Yes..you can do this. Although why you can't spend money on your fish I'm not sure. You will want to spend money on them eventually. (food, aquarium salt, algae scrubbers, etc.)
