How long do bettas typically live?

I have a betta for two years immediately, but he's starting to act differently (sleeping more/eating less). Could his time be up soon? How long do bettas in general live?

Answers:    bowl changed when the water get dirty - 1 to 2yrs
bowl changed at least once a week - 3yr
heated reservoir with filter or wet changed once a week - 5 to7 yrs

if you have him within a bowl it's likely h's in recent times slowing down, try moving him to a warmer spot or getting him a reservoir with a space heater.
about a year to 2 yrs. no relating how old he is though. mine died 2 weeks after the symptoms you only just mentioned though. im sorry...hugs. i miss my beta terribly.
