Ok, I have only just set up another 125 gallon in my fish room. I enjoy always required to keep a motoro gleam, but not had the financial resources for their support until now. I enjoy researched them quiet a bit, but am struggling to choose a container mate. Most commonly suggested tankmates, ie arowanas, clown loaches, etc., are too large for this size of reservoir. I was thinking conceivably a nimbochromis livingstonii, common names-kaligono, cloud cichlid, and the sleeper. I own also researched these fish quiet a bit, and come up with they may be good for my reservoir. They like sand substrate close to motoro rays, like most of the reservoir to be open swimming nouns, only go and get to around 9 inches max, and are very relaxing, except to fish that can fit inside its mouth. I also like their hunting, stalking behavior to small fish. The lone drawback i see is in marine chemistry. Rays like softer, dull water, while kaligono's resembling hard, alkaline wet. I figured I could hang on to pH around 7.3 or so, and have prevailing conditions soft to neutral


Answers:    Basically you want to contribute your Ray the entire bottom of the tank. The tankmates can be pretty much anything that will hold to the open marine.

A cichlid like the nimbochromis is not a horrible view, though in my experience Venstus is particularly feisty and livingstonii, from my understanding, is similar. I don't muse they would pose a threat and they could be worth a shot - just pilfer care. I would run with a mid or top dwelling, immense (not huge) and peaceful fish from a similar biotope.

I really, really recommend not worrying give or take a few the water. The impression that fish need abiding water is a bit of a misconception. The level you see in profiles are an estimation of their unconscious habitat, not what they necessarily need to survive. While I wouldn't put the shaft of light in incredibly alkiline water or the cichlids surrounded by very sour water, both are significantly tolerent of a wide fringe. If your water is between the low 7's and the low 8's you own nothing to verbs about. Keep it verbs and you're laughing.

My oldest living fish is a 12 year old Nicaraguan cichlid living (and bred) within the same ph 8.3 stroke water as adjectives of the Malawi cichlids (not the same tank).
