Overstocked?

Hi guys!

I have a 10 gallon cistern with 3 neon tetras, 3 bronze cories and 3 cherry barb. Would it be possible to add 1 dwarf gourami and conceivably 1 cherry barb? Just tell me if I should merely get the gourami or not acquire anything at all.

Answers:    ack it annoys me when population keep referring to the generul rule of 1 inch. near is no general rule of thumb. It's adjectives in your continuation of the tank, the agression horizontal of fish, tank footage nouns, the level which your fish inhabits, etc.. there's so much more to it than basically one inch per gallon.

ok so what you have is.. 3 mid-dwellers (neons), 3 bottom dwellers (corys) and 3 barb which are also mid-dwellers. I think it might be ok to add on one dwarf gourami but no more mid dwellers like neons.

If you want you could potentially do, 1 gourami and 6 neons and the corys. or replace corys near ghost shrimp. Since they adjectives live in different strata of the fish container and are all relatively diplomatic. good luck.
Gouramis are nearly 2 inchs. You should follow the general rule of thumb which is 1 inch per gallon. Neon tetras are almost an inch, Bronze cories id right to be heard are an inch, Barbs same thing so 9 inchs so far. Id append another Cherry barb then your full

Kribs, The broad rule of thumb is made because of oxygen stock, ammonia build up and other wastes that can spoil fish. If you get a power outage, and is really over stocked, ammonia can build up summarily, oxygen can be taken up easily. Do you know what im trying to grasp at? You can have an overstocked reservoir witha 10 gallon with 13-14 fish contained by it, but you have to definatly hold up with it, and if your out of power for utter a few days, consider your fish suffering and possibly dying.
Do what matt b said but remember that the "general rule of thumb" solitary works up to about 6 inches. afterwards you have to start taking breadth and height into justification, which makes a 6 inch fish be around 50 1 inch fish (or something like that). Make sure you enjoy good filtration and aeration and it should be fine.
Yeah, thats too much. Unless you do do like mad of water change, you would probably be overstocking the tank.
i would simply ditch the barbs and seize about 3 more neons as they are a schooling fish. put in anything else to what you have in a minute and you will have too much.
nought
i hate outlandish fish so get 2 gouramis your container is big enough
