Ever made a huge mistake?

Several yrs ago I was given a tube of bute for my elder mare. The vet said "give this to her tonight" so I did..the entire tube. Three weeks and $25,000 next, she was released from the hospital, but be never the same. I owned her for almost 12 yrs prior to that, and she never had a discouraging day. After, she be constantly colicking despite medication, until the day the vet have been call out once again for colic, and she went from recovering to horrible. He said he have never seen a horse take so bad so hurried, and thought her stomach ruptured. She was put down hastily. That was 5 yrs ago and I still can't forgive myself. I find myself second guessing every little article I do with horses immediately. She had be my first horse as a child, taken me to so many shows, skilled me so many things, and I perceive like I kill her. I'm sure nobody here has done anything that doomed to failure, but has anyone made any mistakes near their horses they wish they could whip back?

Answers:    We adjectives make mistakes, I promise you that. Some times, things appear that we wish we could run back, sometimes they are exceedingly hard ones to adopt and not just minor things but know that within is a reason for everything that happen in our lives. Don't put the blame on yourself, the vet could hold done more to ensure the proper dosage but maybe this played out the passageway it did for reasons that are unknown. This be an accident, you did not do this intentionally and it sounds resembling you did everything in your power to minister to her. For some reason though it didn't assistance, it was her time, she be called home.

That is one article you need believe, contained by all our losses within life. We adjectives have a time and we don't know what the events principal up to that will be. But, when it comes, you can't change it, you can't prevent it, it in recent times happens.

I'm totally sorry for your loss! I know your pain will remain beside you, your memories will remain with you too but you enjoy to get former blaming yourself or anyone else. Try to focus on the fact that you did everything you could do and the perfect memories you had beside your horse. It was lately bute, why the vet probably wasn't worried more than just "keeping an eye on her". The horse subsequent door may have have NO problems over it at all. Its purely one of those things.

Bless you and I hope you can get chronological this, know your horse would want it that way!
Of course we enjoy and if Mike gets on here soon, he can bestow you a post of his that he had a couple of days ago in the order of Thunder.

We allllll have made mistakes, and I own been blessed beside all mine that none of my animals be hurt. However, I was raise with horses my total life and scholarly alot from my mom, I really feel for those that come into horses lacking ever having guidance.

Don't cadence yourself up, you tried to help her and did everything you could. Alot of ppl wouldn't own even gone that far. Kudos for trying and sorry to hear about your mare!
I don't hold horses but I love riding and I'm around horses most of the week. No I haven't done anything, but I want to tell you that it be NOT YOUR FAULT. The vet reccommended it, right? So why would you think it would wound her? I don't know anything about equine veterinary consideration, but colic can be nasty and brutal, too.

I feel sorry for the loss of your horse. Don't blame it on yourself or live your life span in alarm. Horses are sensitive and they also are sucesptible to disease if they are not watched really closely.

I understand if you can never forgive yourself, but try to put yourself historic it until you are sure again. Trust me, second-guessing every move you make is simply going to make things a total lot worse.

Please work hard at doing what is right.
Best of luck, and hold a good daylight! :o)
You did what the vet told you to do..You gave her the meds. The vet Failed to recount you the dose. The vet failed to coach you dosing. The vet failed to enjoy you repeat back the instructions. The vet give you a multidose tube and did not mark the tube. Don't you expect it time you share this responsibilty? You did not do this mailiciously or in a vaccuum. I am sorry you lost your horse. I am sorry you have to go through this. Forgiveness is letting yourself know that yesteryear couldn't be any better. You may make mistakes the rest of your existence.Just don't practise the mistakes you already made.

Bless your heart .
My sister was looking for a horse, her first horse ever. She be a beginner rider and she found a five year outdated that we both rode and thought was dutiful. Me being the one who know more about horses she asked me if i thought it be okay, I said yes. She was riding her sooner or later and the horse spooked and took off bucking and kicking. My sister fell right on her lead and if she wasn't wearing her helemt could have died. I saw the intact thing evolve right infront of me, i tried to stop it but I couldn't. We had to catch rid of the horse and I blame myself for almost killing my sister. I know how it feel to want to take your mistake put a bet on, but at least you and I both knowledgeable from our mistakes, unfortunately the rugged way.
Sweetie, everyone have made mistakes they wish they could bear back. You followed the best proposal you had and did the best you could. Stop kicking yourself. You didn't massacre her, you only loved her.
I reflect on you should forgive yourself, because there are inhabitants out there who don't even thought about their animals and wouldn't own went as far as calling a vet. ou tried to correct a mistake but it be to late i give attention to you are a very compassionate entity and your horse was lucky to hold an owner like you!
very well if the vet told you to give it to her its his idiosyncrasy not yours
You can share the blame with the vet for not specifically relating you the dosage. I'm so sorry, that really really sucks.

I have never made a mistake that fruitless, or really a big one at all, but that's probably because I don't own a horse and merely work as a working student at the barn. I thought I had once though, and it be killing me. Don't blame yourself, we adjectives make mistakes.
Forgive your self would your horse want to see you whipping yourself up? I doubt it. Tell her you love her and your sorry and move on.
