Has anyone tried recycled straw?

I've bought hay in for the winter and call for to get some straw. It's something like $5 per bale here but one of the training centers is selling recycled straw for $2 per bale which is obviously a great deal cheaper. I have to drive over at some point and nick a look at it but wondered if anyone else had ever used it?
Thanks
Lisa

Answers:    No, it would be too un-sanitary for your horses.

Probably with the sole purpose good for growing mushrooms.
I don't know for sure, but I assume you would need to know what the previous use of the straw be in command to know if any chemicals were added that might affect your horses' condition
well i guess it depends what you are gonna use it for, bedding or your garden? how far do you own to drive for it? would you end up spending what you would collect on gas? ive never purchased recycled straw but i give what my horses consume on the ground with the 3-way hay and what falls from the bale piles to my ducks for bedding! i dont know if i would want to use recycled hay for my horses bedding cuz its dirty already relatively speaking. im no expert on this by any channel thats just what i suggest!! good luck!
