What age does barrelracing start at?
Answers: You can really start at any age. I know at the local shows I've attended, any of the kids can show. They have a peewee class of poles and one of barrels too. If you're underneath ten, you can compete in the peewee and they won't agree to you canter, only trot so your daughter can find some show experience without have to go "efficient." I would talk to her trainer and they might be capable of look for some farm/ schooling shows for her to race contained by. Keep in mind that your daughter might want to switch diciplines subsequently. I was convinced I would be a poles title holder when I first started and I now ride contained by the hunter/jumper dicipline.
she can start now! as soon as i be able to suspend onto a running horse without falling bad (around age 5) my friends parents and my grandparents had me vat racing. you will want to look into local ROUND UP clubs, they unite a different times of the month, some meet once a week some stumble upon less than that. but round up clubs are great for kids because they are lenient and let the kids swot how to barrel see and play other games on horseback. kids get ribbons for nearly everything. plus it isn't as expensive as entering a kid into indisputable rodeos and feeling the pressure of really big crowds and one expected to win. at least for the first year i would hold her in a round up club, firkin racing that track, then after that when she starts to win good you can bring her into the real rodeos.
