Do feminine ferret that hold offsprings live any shorter?

So, we have a womanly ferret as a pet and it's 6 months old already or so.
My mom checked some breeders forums and they said that one must spay (i.e. castrate) the ferret because if it has offsprings, it will shorten its enthusiasm dramatically.

Is this true? Or was this a moment ago a lie spread from ferret-breeders surrounded by order to avoid competition?

Thanks.

Answers:    *shudder* Ferret breeding can be a complicated business and the mate none too pleasant.

I own always hear that breeding ferrets (read within my ferret mags and heard from others) is not a profitable endeavour. It is also very labor-intensive for the owner and can organize to many a vet bill. It is sometimes complex to find homes for all of the spawn as well.
All my ferret are neutered/spayed and I wouldn't want it any other way.

EDIT: Breeding a womanly ferret every time she is in fry puts a great drain on her body (much like any other animal). When she doesn't breed within heat, she will become anemic. So, its a problem between not breeding and breeding too much.
Also, lactating females tend to achieve infected milk ducts which is a medical problem directly resulting from having bred her.
There is more potential for vigour problems from a ferret going into heat, mortal mated (bleeding bite wounds), and trying to birth/raise a litter.
There are seriously of problems for unaltered pets, Cancers, diseases, etc. of the female/male organs. What they say is true. :)
Curious as to where on earth you purchased the ferret, a lot of the time they hold already been altered back they are sold.
female ferret can actually DIE if they are not any bred or spayed. When a female ferret go into heat, she does not cycle out of it, she MUST be bred! Otherwise, she will die from prolonged warmness or aplastic anemia.

Im sure breeding does shorten the lifespan also.. its alot of stress to go thru steam and also to go thru a pregnancy and elevate kits.

Edited to put in:
do a lot of research until that time you breed. There are alot of risks of complications.
Cats and dogs can have LOADS of vigour problems if left intact! Their likelihood of getting testicular cancer, uterine cancer, ovarian cancer, breast cancer, and a whole host of infections can be almost completely eliminate simply by fixing our pets. That is one of the most important reason to have them spayed/neutered. I think about it is much the same story next to ferrets.

Also, dogs die EVERY DAY from complications from giving birth. How can you articulate staying intact or breeding doesn't cause them any problems?

Being spayed and living their duration as a happy pet and appendage of your family will not motivation them any problems, but being used as a child machine will, ESPECIALLY if you are inexperienced almost breeding!
I don't breed ferrets...and in that is a reason for that. Are you a ferret breeder? Where do you live? I expect it is very irresponsible that a 'ferret breeder" (if she even is one) would put up for sale someone a ferret without a guarantee that you would go and get it fixed...but that is lately my personal opinion.

I hope you know what you are surrounded by for. As for your original request for information...DO YOUR RESEARCH! This upsets me. You are attempting to breed an animal you do not know enough in the region of. Have you even consulted a veterinarian about this?
