Horse Problem?

I have 2 quarter horses, 17 & 21. The 17 yr frail is dominant. When I put blankets on them for the very first time, the 17 yr frail began herd the 21 yr old, making him gallop around the enclosed space off and on for an hour or so, which he have never done prior to wearing the blanket. And when I took them off, he stopped herd the older horse. Is this due to the blankets? Or is he simply expressing his dominance in a topical way?

Answers:    Your dominant horse is purely not sure what to think of his "property" since beside a blanket on he now looks different. And as you would expect your dominant horse can't "see" himself to know that he also is wearing a blanket too. He should calm down and stop this behavior surrounded by a few days. If he is still showing these new aggresion signs, you may have need of to leave the blankets on while they are within their stall also. So he can see his buddy wearing the blanket more. Sort of a desinsitization factor. Keep an eye on him though when you turn them out so he doesn't run the older horse too much and rationale other problems
