How can we engender our pets live longer?

I think the biggest thing is regular vet visit. I am a dog person. I have a picapoo that lived 20 years and another that lived 17. I had a chow that solitary lived to be 3 because of a snake bite. My chihuahua is 7. I want my dog to live as long as possible because I bonded with every animal I've owned similar to a child. I almost lost him last week when he be attacked by a stray chow that jumped our fence- if I wasn't out here then he would hold been kill but he is still recovering and getting surgery Tuesday. So what can we do as pet owners to make sure our pets live long elated lives?

Answers:    I'm also really attached to my dog. She'll be 5 in a few months. I'm thinking a fighting fit diet (good quality dry food) and exercising are musts. But also, making sure that they are protected from accidents- large fences, sturdy doors...ect. I ponder vet visits support, but so far every time I go to the vet for a per annum check up, he just say that she's "fine". So are yearly check ups really worth it? Or do you simply go when you are concerned something like something?
Take your dog out for walks, unsurprisingly feed them day by day, take their food at dark, but leave the hose down. Play with your pet and unsurprisingly love it, do the regular grooming(brushing teeth, clipping nails) and he should live a long, healthy life span. You might want to do something if your fence is too short so zilch jumps the obstruction again.
