What is an environmentally past the worst method to capture rid of your pet's (dog and cat) fleas and ticks?

I am looking for ways that I can get rid of my pets' fleas and ticks. With the heavily built rain that we own had surrounded by TX the fleas and ticks seem to be out if force. They enjoy since infested my outside dog. He is perfectly merry staying outside so he refuses to come within. My daughter and I noticed the other afternoon that ticks have attacked him. He's to some extent large and sometimes rowdy so he doesn't resembling to stay still long enough for me to pilfer them off. Since I enjoy to bath him outside I necessitate something that I can put together from house hold ingredients and/or that won't make my dog or his nouns sick. I have like peas in a pod problem, minus the ticks, with my indoor cats. Any relieve would be really appreciated.
